Leeds & Liverpool closed again

THE Leeds & Liverpool Canal is closed for the rest of the month between Bridges 130 and 130A in Burnley.

This is caused by the collapse of a stone wall into the waterway, and its repair will take four weeks, during which time, we are told, the navigation will be closed, Keith Gudgin tells us.

End of February

The date given for the reopening of the waterway is the 28th of February, though stoppage notices could be issued in the interim period.  The wall can be rebuilt without de-watering.  (Photograph by Canal & River Trust.)

Winding can be undertaken between bridges 138 and 129 on the West side of the stoppage and 130 and 131 on the East side.
