THERE ARE LONG TERM STOPPAGES on two major waterways.
Both closed since early August, Keith Gudgin reports.
Leicester Section
The Leicester Section is closed through lack of water.
We are told that reservoir levels have not recovered sufficiently for navigation, with the trust unable to tell when the waterway will reopen.
South Oxford Canal
The South Oxford Canal is in a similar position since the 10th August.
With no significant reservoir replenishment since the closure was introduced—and no date given for reopening.
However, the trust is continuing to explore options for these canals, that could help boaters who are currently unable to return to their home moorings or need to move to get supplies.
