IT WAS WAY BACK ON the 4th August that Atherstone Flight on the Coventry Canal was closed.
But has at last reopened today, Thursday, Keith Gudgin reports.
Though not told, it was of course to protect the long pounds above the flight with marinas and other moored boats along both the entire Ashby Canal and the Coventry Canal to Coventry and the stop lock along the Oxford Canal. (Atherstone Top Lock pictured.)
Continued dry weather
The trust tells this was—Due to continued dry weather and the ongoing pressures on water resources across the network, we have taken the difficult decision to close the Atherstone Lock Flight to navigation from Tuesday 4th August until further notice.
So from this morning, Thursday, the restricted operating hours at Atherstone Lock Flight will be lifted and the flight will return to normal operation.
