Residents against new marina

THE local residents at Hawkesbury on the Coventry Canal are angered at the revised plans for a new marina.

Named the Hawkesbury Marina and Canal Village, the local residents association remains very concerned at the revised plans that include a housing scheme on a former golf course, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Too intensive

Situated near Hawkesbury Junction, the plans, in addition to the marina include the building of 169 houses, though fewer than the original plan, that was rejected by Nuneaton and Bedworth borough councillors on the grounds that it was ‘too intensive' for the local roads

In addition to the marina itself of 150 berths, the developer also plans to include 40 allotments and a community building.

But the residents state Hawkesbury would be unable to cope with the level of development, with  local schools and health services placed under pressure.
