TWO people have been arrested by Cheshire Police after starting a fire on a narrowboat moored on the the Bridgewater Canal at Lymm.

Thieves broke into the narrowboat, Pandora, stealing a laptop and passports then set the boat on fire, with the interior decimated and the windows shattered by the heat, whilst nearby boaters hurriedly moved their boats away in fear of the gas cylinders exploding, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Worked on

The interior of the boat, had been worked on by friends Louise Bradford and Julian Knott, with a view to Louise living on the boat.

The couple however were in custody in Runcorn when the fire occurred, having been arrested for a public order offence, with a resident telling that it all started after a series of anti-social complaints regarding loud music being played on the boat and the boat owners' behaviour.

They were later bailed and given a court summons for the public order, with no further action taken.
