FOLLOWING ON THE CLOSURES of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal comes another, all due to low water.
Closures
Recently the closures consisted of locks 65 to 85, then three flights, then the Bingley Five Rise, Keith Gudgin reported.
Though it is not known if these stoppage are still in force.
But now locks Office Lock 2 (pictured) to Newlay Top Lock 13 are closed due to low water levels, as they have been in the past.
Though water levels have recovered in this area, to open navigation now would jeopardise the efforts to recover levels further up the canal
Remain closed
Navigation will therefore remain closed until Monday 17th August 2026 when the position will be re-evaluated.
As there are boaters wanting to exit the Leeds & Liverpool Canal the trust is providing passage through Spring Garden, Oddy, St Ann and Office locks on Friday 14th August 2026 between 10am and 1pm.
LATEST:
Water levels on Skipton Pound are suffering. This means that it is not possible to reopen either the Five Rise or Three Rise locks.
Navigation will therefore remain closed until Monday 17th August when we are told the position will be re-evaluated.
