A NEW BALANCE BEAM is required for a lock on the Kennet & Avon Canal.
It is Sulhamstead Lock 100 that is effected, Keith Gudgin reports.
Boaters are advised that teams have attended the site and confirmed that a replacement balance beam is required.
A long closure
As there is a significant lead time for a replacement beam to be manufactured and delivered, it would seem that this will be a long closure.
It is told that the reason for a new balance beam is that it was a boating incident, that is not understood as there are no further details.
