THE HYDRAULICS ON SYKEHOUSE LOCK on the New Junction Canal seem to be giving trouble.
As there was a failure of the swing bridge on the 17th July and three times already this month. Keith Gudgin reports.
These gave stoppages on the 4th, the 7th and now it's hydraulic unit has 'developed a fault and is not currently operable'.
The trust's mechanical and engineering teams have been on site today and has isolated the problem, with a replacement part being sourced and should be available tomorrow morning.
First thing tomorrow
Our engineers will be back on site first thing tomorrow and it is hoped that they will be able to replace the faulty part at that time, it is told.
But it seems most strange that this swing bridge was used for many years in the past with no problems whatsoever, yet now they are coming fast and furious!
And the last one also concerned the hydraulic unit.
