THE WORK ON THE BOSLEY FLIGHT on the Macclesfield Canal is to take four weeks to repair.
We are told the work has now been assessed, Keith Gudgin reports.
And the team have planned a method of repair.
Cill baffle and head gate
The work is on Lock 6 and is to repair a loose cill baffle and a damaged head gate, with the subsequent leaking also leaving low water.
Work will begin on site next Monday the 17th August, to reline the head and tail gates and reattach the cill bumper, with it told the works may take up to four weeks to complete.
The work is essential to avoid significant water loss through the lock.
Another beam problem
There is another canal with a beam problem.
This is the Stourbridge Canal with a cracked beam on Lock 14 of the Stourbridge Flight, and it is now closed to navigation.
Beam problem sorted
Regent's Canal has had its beam problem sorted. This was on Mile End Lock 9.
We are informed that all repair works are complete at Mile End Lock, and the area is being cleared, with the navigation reopened at 9am this morning.
The issue was with a broken balance beam.
