ONCE AGAIN THE Sykehouse Swing Bridge has been repaired and the navigation reopened.

It needed an hydraulic unit, Keith Gudgin reports.

The swing bridge on the New Junction Canal had previously required a new hydraulic unit, it being previously closed three times already this month and in July.

Fixed properly

Boaters must surely hope that this time it has been fixed properly.

The trust's mechanical and engineering teams had attended Sykehouse yesterday morning and told they had replaced the faulty part.

Adding that the bridge has been fully tested and is now open for passage.

Winkwell Swing Bridge

The 'wink' is no longer on the blink, we are informed.

This is the Winkwell Swing Bridge 147 on the Grand Union Canal that has broken down numerous times in the past, it earning itself the title 'The Wink on the Blink'.

The trust advises that a repair has been completed and the bridge is now operational.

It had been closed due to a hydraulic fault.
