Picked a good weekend

THE Federation of Bridgewater Cruising Clubs picked a great weekend on the 26th & 27th May to hold their annual get-together.

Boats and crews from all of the clubs on the Bridgewater Canal descended on the tiny village of Dunham Massey on the hottest weekend of the year. Picture by Doug Wildman.

Renew friendships

The local village hall was the central point for everyone to renew friendships from the full length of the canal from Runcorn to Worsley. Crews spent the day browsing the stalls, having cups of tea and turning their hands to a spot of ferret racing. All of which made for a very enjoyable day.

Later on in the evening several barbecues could be seen along the towpath while those that had had enough of the warm day gathered in the village hall for a noggin' and natter.

Sunday morning feature

On Sunday morning, with the weather still showing no signs of change from the beautiful sunshine the crews made their way to the village hall, this time for an auction. This is a regular Sunday morning feature at the Federation get-together, mainly because it is all done as a bit of fun (another way of getting junk off your boat) and also an opportunity to raise a few pounds for a charity. This time the proceeds of £90-£100 went to the Marie Curie charity.
