THE name of the well known landmark on the Trent & Mersey Canal at Shardlow, The Clock Warehouse has been saved after a campaign against the brewery Marstons  who wanted to change the name to something more modern.

Campaigners complained to the brewery that the name signified its use in the days when the canal was in commercial use, the building being a well known landmark.

Changed its mind

The area operations manager has now announced that the company had changed its mind and would retain the name The Clock Warehouse, adding that it had 'listened to our customers and our community and have taken your views on board'.

Marstons had taken down the 'Navigation from the Trent to the Mersey', but have now agreed to restore it back on to the building.
