TWO grown cats have been discovered inside a bag in the Leeds & Liverpool Canal in Blackburn.

The cats, one black and one tortoiseshell and white, were left in a distinctive bright pink bag drowned in the waterway with cat treats inside the bag, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Pulled bag out

A towpath walker noticed the distinctive pink bag and reached down and pulled it out, finding the two dead animals inside.

The RSPCA was notified, with an officer telling that it was a ‘really sad heartbreaking job', and the two cats were in good condition with no obvious cause of death other than having drowned.

Checks are being made for any CCTV, with the RSPCA showing the pink bag with a logo on the side.
