THERE is very little of the Cromford Canal that is navigable, but that now contains nearly a mile of oil spill.
The result is that the Environment Agency is investigating the oil that has been released on the navigable section at High Peak Junction, Alan Tilbury tells us.
From basin
The spill now stretches from the basin at Cromford to Whatstandwell on the waterway.
The agency urges anyone walking the towpath to ensure that their dogs do not enter the water.
