Anglo Welsh cash in

THE boat hire company Anglo Welsh is cashing in on Christmas by offering its boats on short hire over the holiday season for hirers to do their shopping.

The boats are aimed at people shopping in Birmingham, with hire starting at £195 for a 36ft narrowboat, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Shopping centres

The company point out that you can moor near the shopping centres in the city, with no parking problems, with no limit on what can be carried, and of course free overnight moorings.

It tells prospective hirers that they are in walking distance of Brindley Place, The Mailbox and Bullring shopping centres, and that even familiar surroundings appear surprisingly different from the water.

The narrowboat Emma is available at Tardebigge Wharf—luckily at the top of the long flight—with an easy lock free cruise into the city.
