Birmingham is best!

A USA magazine, The New Yorker, had told its readers to forsake London for Birmingham, as a more exciting city, especially its waterways.

 

One of the reasons is the city's canals, which it claims are one of the city's best features—'providing a picturesque backdrop to Birmingham's trendy Mailbox food and shopping complex, as well as a photogenic diversion extending 35 miles around the city', Alan Tilbury tells us.

It points out the many features of the waterways, together with the mis-quote that Birmingham has more canals than Venice.

The magazine makes particular mention of the area around the Gas Street Basin and the various narrowboat businesses including the restaurant.
