A 'KILLER' pike that was suspected of taking ducklings has been found floating dead on the Trent in Nottingham.

There has been a scarcity of ducklings along the reach of the river through the city to Holme Lock, and it is believed pike are responsible, with the dead one, measuring just under four feet, being responsible for many of them Alan Tilbury tells us.

Very few left

There are obviously more pike in the river, and it is believed they are taking the young ducklings, as there are very few left on the river.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust admitted that  pike would take small ducklings from the surface, being predatory fish.
