Feedback defines winter works programme

Published: Thursday, 11 July 2013

THE winter works programme is being defined using feedback from boaters, Canal & River Trust tells us.

But now it is listed as conservation and repair work, that will of course take place over the winter months between November and March, and it is planning for the winter ahead.

Tweaks

Vince Moran, Operations Director for the Canal & River Trust, explained:

"I would like to thank everyone who has taken the opportunity to look through all the winter repairs that we're planning, to tell us where tweaks can be made or where a canal closure can be moved.

"We obviously undertake the bulk of this work in the winter when fewer boats are moving, but if we can make any further tweaks to minimise disruption and get the canals back in business as soon as possible then I'd be pleased to hear about them. We've made some changes to our initial conservation programme and, if they've got time, I would encourage boaters and boating businesses to take another look at the plans and work with us to make sure we get the scheduling spot on."

Comments invited

Boaters and boating businesses are asked to go online and have a look at the plans and feed back any comments by the 26th July 2013. Those comments will then be reviewed so that improvements can be made before the final programme is published at the end of August.
