A BOATER living on a narrowboat on the Oxford Canal has been jailed for 30 months for cutting his girlfriend's neck.

Vincent Westwood, whose boat is moored in Oxford admitted one count of unlawful wounding and one of common assault at Oxford Crown Court, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Cut her neck

Judge Patrick Eccles heard how Westwood put his hand on her throat, pushed her against the wall and used a knife to make a one and half inch cut in her neck, leaving her with a permanent scar.

The prosecuter pointed out that she is extremely self-conscious and has to wear scarves in public.  Westwood was jailed for 28 months for wounding, plus two months for assault.
