New group to promote the Avon

WITH the Avon being neglected as it runs through Bath, a new group has been formed to develop the riverside through the city.

River Regeneration Trust will look to bringing new idea for environmentally friendly development along the river, reversing years of neglect, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Ideas

This follows on the work by the volunteer task force River Corridor Group, who have put forward ideas for using the river with various developments for the public, including bars and a continental style café and even the possibility of an hydro-electricity plant.

The Trust will not only promote work in the city, but along a 20 miles stretch from Dundas Wharf to Hanham Lock, with it's spokesman telling that it has been formed to 'make things happen'.

The trust hopes to work with the public, private and voluntary sectors to provide jobs, training, energy and waste management schemes and leisure amenities.
