New full year mooring licence
Published: Monday, 02 July 2012
WATERWAYS Ireland is to introduce a new licence for boaters wanting to moor on the canals for longer than the five days allowed under the current system.
The plan is to issue an Extended Mooring Licence allowing the holder to moor in a position allocated by the authority on a soft bank area for up to one year, Alan Tilbury reveals.
Euro152 per year
The new licence will cost Euro152 per year.. The application process for the new licence will open in the Autumn when all existing permit holders will be contacted.
However this will not supersede the annual Canal Mooring and Passage Permit that will still have to be purchased. The combined fee for 2012/13 will be Euro278.
Waterways Ireland will enforce the five days rule for boats without the new licence.
