Agreement on Limehouse Basin lock

AFTER a great deal of representation, St. Pancras Cruising Club has managed to get the security services responsible for the Olympics, to allow access through Commercial Road Lock at Limehouse Basin.

Commercial Road Lock connects Limehouse Basin with the Regent's Canal, and is essential for boaters wanting access from the canal to and from the Thames.

Two hours

An agreement has now been reached with the security services that Commercial Road Lock will be open for booked traffic, but only for two hours each day during the Olympics period.

However, these opening hours will be flexible to allow for boats who wish to transit through the Olympic control zone or on or off the tidal river.

It is expected that the limited arrangements for booking passage through London during the Olympics, will be made known by Easter.
