Man robbed on Wigan Flight

TWO men sitting on a lock beam on Wigan Flight on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, sprang up and assaulted a towpath walker at knife point, robbing him of his cash.

This happened at Rabbit Rocks Lock (72) on the flight when the two men accosted the walker asking for cigarettes, then one grabbed the walker, searching him, whilst the other produced a knife holding it to his heart, robbing him of cash and other items, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Foreign language

The two men, around the ages of 30, spoke in a foreign language, both wearing scruffy clothes and smelling of wood smoke.

This is the second attack narrowboatworld has reported on the flight, though the previous one was with youths on cycles who robbed a man before cycling off.
