Another marina for Lincoln

PLANNING permission has been given for a 220 berths marina on the Witham at Lincoln, even though there is one a few miles away.

It will be situated a mile East of the city at Eastfield Rise Farm at Cherry Willingham, with the plans including a 24 bedrooms hotel with bar and restaurant, plus 40 holiday chalets, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Another new marina

This is in addition to the Burton Waters development that includes another marina two miles West of Lincoln on the Fossdyke, that too has holiday lodges, but is more a basis for houses surrounding the marina, that are now being made available.

It is expected that houses will be built around the new marina, with plans in the pipeline for such development.

Though the developer maintains that local residents at  Cherry Willingham are supportive of the new marina and the development, it admitted that many people were against the project, causing a revision to the plans.

Statistics

Cherry Willingham Parish Council stated that its survey showed 42 people supported the plans while just 12 people were against, yet a residents document showed that 76 people were against the marina and just eight in support!

British Waterways gave its backing to the marina, though there is not the demand for two new ones so close together with one already in Lincoln.
