Floating coat hid body

BOATER John Tye had noticed a coat floating in the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal at Gloucester, but thought little of it. He intended to go and investigate later, but the police had been informed, and it was discovered the coat belonged to a Gloucester man who had drowned.

Unexplained

His body was pulled out of the water near Sainsbury's by the police, who have reported that the death is unexplained.

The man, whose next of kin have been informed, had been missing for a few days.
