Waterways History Workshop

THE interesting annual Waterways History Workshop, organised by the Birmingham Canal Navigations Society, that is generally well attended, is to be held once again, Brenda Ward tells us.

This is held at Bargates Hall, Whitchurch, Shropshire on Saturday 31st March 2012, and this year is entitled Motive Power on Inland Waterways.

The itinerary:

10.00 - 10.30 Coffee/Tea Biscuits
10.30 - 10.40 Introduction
10.40 - 11.20 Tom Foxon—Motive Power & Productivity on Inland Waterways
11.20 - 12.00 Sue Day—Horse boating into the 21st century
12.00 - 12.40 Joseph Boughey—Aspects of pleasure boating
12.40 - 14.00 Buffet Lunch
14.00 - 14.40 Mike Clarke—Barcroft's semi-immersed propeller
14.40 - 16.20 Ray Shill—illustrations from the RCHS photo collection
16.20 - 16.30 Discussion and closing remarks
Coffee/Tea will be available for those wishing to partake prior to departing.

Admission £18.50, with buffet lunch included. Doors open at 10.00 and the workshop will finish at 16.45pm. Please note that cheques are made payable to BCN Society and after expenses any surplus is donated to the Society. Cheques payable to ‘The BCN Society'
