Cows stop cruise

THE cruise by members of the Mersey Motor Boat Club was stopped abruptly by two cows in the Trent & Mersey Canal at Marston.

The two bullocks must have been enjoying the water as they refused to get out of the canal, it eventually needing a call to fire fighters to get them out of the waterway near Northwich.

Four hours

Teams from Northwich and Knutsford used ropes to get the beasts out of the water, that took just under four hours, with lifting equipment having to be used to get one of them out.

Eventually the cruise was able to continue somewhat behind time, but after being well entertained!
