I am amazed though not at all surprised that Waterways Ireland had closed down the canals in Dublin, it says owing to vandals.

Waterways Ireland is a law unto itself, and the canals in the city have always been a problem of one kind or another and it has jumped on this excuse to close them down, and the fact that it cuts a canal in half now allowing no access is no matter to those that run it.

I moor just outside the city and have cruised through it many times with never having any problems, and from what other boat owners tell me they too have had nothing really serious, though they know of others who complain about everything, which is most likely a few kids messing about, which Waterways Ireland have obviously picked on and used as an excuse to close them down, which is absolutely ludicrous.

I wonder what you in England would say if British Waterways [Canal & River Trust] closed down the canals in London on a similar excuse?
