PLANK Lane Bridge on the Leigh Branch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal is still closed with a single opening each day at 2pm.
It is now over a week since it was out of order, our being given two reasons by Canal & River Trust, that it 'closed for maintenance', then realising it needed more drastic attention that 'it is closed for essential repair'!
Beset with problems
The bridge has been beset with problems (we ourselves being stuck there once) and when it fails the deck is usually lifted by a crane, as in the picture—the yellow strap can be seen at the end.
It will now be Thursday when the next update is expected.
