I can commiserate with the boaters who had the broad locks to themselves through Leicester, as I have done it many times and only managed to get someone sharing once.
I know it once had a bad reputation for vandals, but the age of the mobile phone, tablet and PC has diminished vandalism greatly, as the yobs are now otherwise engaged killing people off in their silly games.
For the past three or four years we have boated through the city without problems. Though we welcome extra secure moorings, we have always used those locked ones by Newark Bridge, with the handy park. It is just a pity more people don't do it, then there would be more chance of sharing, cutting down the work on the locks.
