I don't think that that the Trust will do anything about the disgraceful treatment of the narrowboat on the Staffs & Worcs that had obviously be daubed by paint by an angler, writes Steve Kidd.

Because anglers, like bikers and walkers, are all-important to the Trust and the people there will not want to upset any of them.

Threatened

I was once threatened by two anglers early one morning whilst moored just below Pilling's Flood Lock on the Soar above Loughborough, for I was in the middle of a match layout, and they wanted me moved and left me in no doubt that 'they would take the matter in their own hands', I believe was the expression they used if my memory served me well.  So being somewhat intimidated and fearful for my wife, I hastily dressed and moved up through the lock until we could moor at Barrow. I tell this to show that anglers have no concern for boaters should they be in 'their' space.

I wrote to the then British Waterways but was advised not to moor where an angling match was taking place.  How the hell I was supposed to know that the evening before when I moored, as there were no pegs or anything to show there was to be an angling match.

This time you can bet the Trust will pass it off as a 'police matter'.
