LACK OF SUFFICIENT WATER on sections of the Kennet & Avon Canal have caused boaters to report it to the trust.

So the sections have been closed, Keith Gudgin reports.

The reports tell that boats are grounding on the bottom of the canal between Cadley lock 54 and Crofton Summit lock.

In addition

This is in addition to complaints concerning Bedwyn to Froxfield Bottom Lock.

In view of this, the trust tells that for this reason it has made the difficult decision to close the navigation from Cadley Lock 54 to Froxfield Bottom Lock 70.

But this will be reviewed daily until safe navigation is restored.

Another problem is that low ground water feeding Wilton Water has affected the pumping.  It could take a few days for it to recover.
