HARD on the heels on the news of the closure of Wooton Top Lock on the Kennet & Avon Canal, a further lock is now closed to navigation on the waterway.
This time it is Kennet Lock (50) at Devizes that is closed, owing to structural failure, Keith Gudgin tells us.
Give the reason
This time Canal & River Trust give the reason for the closure, which it states is due to a structural failure of the brickwork surrounding the upstream sluice.
Engineers are assessing the situation today (Wednesday) after which notice should be given as to the length of the stoppage.
LATEST:
Engineers have done a temporary repair to the wall and the navigation has now been re-opened.
