YOU can always tell when the boating season starts—by the increase in the number of boats sinking in locks.

The result of either being caught on the cill or tied by the middle rope and rolled over, with the latest being in Boxmoor Lock (64)—not 62 as advised by Canal & River Trust—at Hemel Hempstead on Monday, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Boat damage

The navigation is of course now closed until it can be removed. Under the new descriptions, the Trust list the stoppage as 'boat damage'.
