THE organisers of the first-ever Worcester Canal Festival at Lansdowne Park are hoping to attract visitors with the offer of beer at £3 a pint at the nearby pub.

The Chestnut is offering the beer in conjunction with the festival this weekend, which will raise money for a number of charities in the area, Alan Tilbury tells us.

200th anniversary

It is celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Worcester & Birmingham Canal, and though the festival is the first of its kind, if there is the support, it is hoped that it will become a regular feature.

There will be live music, charity auction, stalls and food and a flotilla of narrowboats.
