Cotswolds flood damage

WITH the adverse weather conditions continuing, the Cotswold Canal Trust have had a major setback with the newly installed Dudbridge Locks, on the Stroudwater Canal Restoration, writes Peter Ponting. A innovative Hydro Project was installed at the locks, with overflow water from the local feeding river producing electricity to the national grid.

However the mesh protective inlet to the hydro unit became blocked with debris, with the resulting flooding, which has caused severe damage especially to the newly laid towpath.
