20% off at new marina

THE long awaited Kings Orchard Marina on the Coventry Canal is offering 20% off its normal mooring charges for boaters taking up moorings before September.

Phase 1 of the construction of the marina will be completed, we are told, by the 3rd June, and for those boaters attending the open days there will be 'a spectacular additional offer'.

Limited facilities

The discount and offer reflect that only limited facilities will be available at the outset, with prices starting at 71p per foot per week plus VAT, for those paying annually in advance and taking up a berth by 1st September at the latest.

Gold Service berths will not be available until later when all the facilities are available, and will be at extra cost.  However from the experience of other marinas who have offered such berths, such as Sawley Marina's Platinum Moorings, these have not proved successful, with little interest shown, so the service has eventually been scrapped,  boaters seemingly wanting value for money rather than paying for unnecessary trimmings.

Cost extra

The Gold Service at Kings Orchard includes private bathrooms comprising a shower, toilet and wash basin, but will cost an extra £500 a year, but this facility seems strange as the marina is for 'leisure boaters only',  and so not residentials.
