Defer proposals says RBOA

Published: Monday, 04 March 2013

FOLLOWING the lead of the National Association of Boat Owners (NABO), the Residential Boat Owners Association (RBOA) has published its response to the Canal & River Trust (CART) consultation on changes to mooring restrictions at 22 sites in South East Region, writes Allan Richards.

Echoing the NABO response, RBOA have also suggested that the proposals are deferred.

In summary

RBOA's ends its response—'In summary we suggest that measures are taken during the 2013 cruising season to properly control the existing restrictions on visitor moorings and to monitor the results. Based on a detailed report of this it will then be possible to consider any necessary changes and consult over them for implementation if found necessary in 2014'.

Farce

630 boaters have signed the petition calling for the proposals to be scrapped. Two major boating organisations have now called for it to be deferred. CaRT's Head of Boating and a Trustee are seen as attempting to influence the outcome of the consultation by withholding information (Defer proposals say NABO—2/3/2013).

It's a complete farce!

...But will CaRT actually do what the boating organisations are suggesting?
