On the map

AS REPORTED in narrowboatworld the waterways are now appearing on Google maps, with the main attractions being the first to appear.

A stretch of the Llangollen Canal including the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the Kennet & Avon Canal including Caen Hill flight are amongst the first, with more planned, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Along towpaths

The Google team took a specially adapted three wheeled vehicle along the towpaths to record the waterways, that can be seen on its Street View maps.

In both cases the towpath had been upgraded, but it is not known how the vehicle will cope with the rough towpaths in the 'sticks'.
