Wolverhampton still closed

THE canal at Wolverhampton and the flight down to the Staffs & Worcs Canal are still closed after yesterday's (Wednesday) dramatic canalside fire.

Debris from the fire fell into the waterway and chemicals were released, that together with the fire caused the fire people to close the waterway.

It was late in the evening when the blaze was eventually doused, with the building totally wrecked, though its owner has stated that he will rebuild.

British Waterways staff have been inspecting the waterway, but no decision has been reached as to when it will be opened.
