No water for new marina

OWING to the water shortage on the Kennet & Avon Canal there was none to spare to fill the new Caen Hill Marina.

The owners had no alternative but to bring in a pump, and pump water out of the Avon, as the marina needed over eight million gallons.

Completed

This was achieved by pumping the water into the pound at Seend, and allowing it into the recently completed marina, that is now full and being tested for leaks.

The new marina, on a 13 acres site, is situated by the bottom of  Caen Hill Flight, hence its name. It is expected to be open for boats by the beginning of October, with 248 berths.
