New hire base on the Llangollen

THERE will be a new hire company on the Llangollen Canal next season when Drifters open its latest base at Blackwater Meadow Marina near Ellesmere.

Seven and 10 berths boats will be available to hire on this popular canal with prices starting at £860 for a week and £559 for a short break.

New boats

The company is also launching new boats next Spring, named the Bond Class boat, which will be available for hire at Trevor on the Llangollen Canal and Wootton Wawen on the Stratford Canal. These six berths boats have two shower rooms, flexible but private sleeping areas allowing holidaymakers to create three doubles or six singles or any combination in between.

They also have new quieter engines, and something unusual in a hire boat—solid fuel stoves.  Weekly hire prices start from £755 and short breaks from £529.

For the newly married, or those wanting a bit of romance, the company is offering a new two berth honeymoon boat, complete with a bath, twin lounge chairs and front cockpit seats, plus a complementary bottle of champagne! This is available from its Sowerby Bridge base on the Calder & Hebble Navigation.
