Ten days at bridge

VOLUNTEERS from the Waterway Recovery Group are spending ten days over Easter restoring a bridge on the Wilts & Berks Canal.

This is the ongoing restoration of  the Steppingstone Lane Bridge over the waterway near  Shrivenham by the Group, which is nearing completion.

The bridge was constructed in the early 1800s to carry the road from Shrivenham to Bourton over the waterway, but became unsafe in the 1940s and later collapsed.
