Progress is taking shape on the Bridgewater breach, Janet Friend reports.
Stay in place
These will stay in place until the breach is repaired and the canal eventually reopened.
The next object is to install an earth dam south side of the breach, making sure the work on the breach can progress in safety.
It is still hoped that the work will be completed by December of this year, it making it exactly two years from when the canal breached at Little Bollington on New Year's Day 2025 following heavy rainfall and a collapsed culvert.
£400,000 invested
It is stated that up to date, about £400,000 has been invested in stabilising and protecting the canal following the breach.
When completed it will mean the Cheshire Ring will the be available for boating, always proving of course the other navigations in the ring are without stoppages.
