New bridge for Hungerford

PLANS are to go on exhibition for a new bridge over the Kennet & Avon at Hungerford.

This is for a pedestrian bridge by the side of the existing bridge over the waterway, which being so narrow is dangerous for pedestrians sharing it with vehicles.

The plans will be on display in the town's library from the 6th April, and show the proposed design of the £400,000 footbridge.

The erection of a separate bridge is because residents fear an accident on the current bridge, its narrow pavement resulting in pedestrians perilously close to traffic.
