THOUGH it is four months since the breach appeared on the Leeds & Liverpool it is still not repaired.

The breach occurred between bridges 109 and 110 of the navigation at Rishton, and though we are told 'work is progressing well' there is not a great deal of activity, Keith Gudgin reports.

A further repair

At this time we are told that the damaged areas of the canal have all been removed and cleared, but revealing a further repair found to be required.

We are told the materials to re-build the canal embankment and relining clay are starting to be delivered on site ready for use, but the work will not commence until March, which hardly equates with the comment that 'work is progressing well', and that the navigation will not be reopened until April.
