THE SANKEY CANAL RESTORATION SOCIETY is to attempt the restoration of Hey Lock on the Sankey Canal.
And is advertising for volunteers, Janet Friend reports.
The society is prepared to begin work uncovering the lock this coming Saturday, the 10th October.
Volunteers are invited to join the task team at Hey Lock from 10am to 2pm, although shorter sessions are also available.
Recent success
This is following the recent success at Old Double Lock, with the society hoping for a similar turnout for this new project.
The restoration society provides tools, safety gear and insurance, with under 18s being welcome if accompanied by a responsible adult.
The tasks will involve investigating the canal pipework near Newton Brook and starting work to reveal the Hey Lock on the Sankey Valley Trail.
