Boat fire was arson

THE police maintain that arsonists were responsible for the narrowboat fire on the river at Ware.

This is the third fire reported in NbW this year, two in very suspicious circumstances, with this latest one on the Lee, last Friday evening.

The police believe that arsonists poured fuel onto the boat, as it was moored by the Saracens Head pub in Bridgefoot, setting it alight then running off.

No great damage was done in this case, with the fire having burnt itself out by the time the firefighters arrived.
