Coronavirus campaign caused a change of opinion

I MOST unreservedly offer you my most humble apologies and take back all I wrote in 2019, writes Adrian Warne.

I took great offence at your writers' persistence at naming continuous cruisers as 'continuous moorers' and from this ascertained that you were 'against' continuous cruisers en masse.

Unfailing battle

Your unfailing battle against the authorities to safeguard continuous cruisers from the deadly coronavirus by shaming them into preventing the masses of people encroaching on their spaces clearly shows that you obviously have no grievance whatsoever against continuous cruisers, in fact the opposite.

Especially as no one else seems to care if we boaters succumb to the disease or not.  Even our supposedly champion the National Bargee Travellers Association shows no concern, as neither do either boaters' representatives the Inland Waterways Association or National Boat Owners Association, or any of the publications as I can ascertain, with none daring to complain of the way that Canal & River Trust is allowing unrestricted use of its towpaths whilst at the same time advising people to stay at home.

Alarming policy

All are more concerned at pandering (I use the word purposely) to Canal & River Trust's alarming policy of allowing its so obviously dangerous towpaths to be accessed by all and sundry, never mind the continuous cruisers attempting to self isolate whose lives are put at such obvious risk.

The notice for the public not to pass moored boats would be laughable if it was not so tragic, as no one is going to turn back from their purpose just because there is a moored boat, as I can personally confirm.  Such a statement is indicative of the present thinking at Canal & River Trust that seems to have no real grasp of the dangers of the situation whatsoever.

Again my sincere apologies for clearly misinterpreting what is so obviously your admirable championing of us continuous cruisers.
