ONCE again the Selby Swing Bridge that carries the A63 over the River Ouse is out of action and unable to swing to allow boat passage.
Though only constructed in 2005 to carry the Selby bypass, it has had failures, the last one being in August of last year, Keith Gudgin tells us.
Narrowboats can pass
However, normal narrowboats are able to pass underneath without the bridge being swung, it only affecting taller cruisers.
The reason given for the failure is a hydraulic fault, and repairs are now underway but may take up to two weeks to complete.
